And get ready for a really special night!
Recently I talked about being contacted by Connor from Conlan Press, the publisher and manager for Peter S. Beagle (author of The Last Unicorn among many other excellent works), about marketing my prints to their fans, creating art for their book covers and other surprises. It’s a tremendous opportunity, made all the better by the fact that Peter’s body of work has had huge, wonderful effects on my life… especially The Last Unicorn, which was turned into a film in 1982; a faithful rendition of the original work since Peter wrote the screenplay.
Right now Peter and Connor are in the middle of a huge, cross-country (soon to be international!) screening tour of The Last Unicorn.
While it would be exciting enough just to be able to see Unicorn on a big screen, the tour is far more than that. Peter will be at each and every screening to hold Q&A sessions and sign books. There will be raffles and drawings. Costumes are encouraged and, according to their site, “great ones will be rewarded.” I hardly need encouragement to dress up in costumes!
Perhaps most exciting for me personally, Connor will be officially introducing me and my art to Peter’s fans at this screening. The idea alone is so thrilling, I have no idea how I’m going to make it through the actual evening, but I’ll do my best!
So if you’re in or near the Newport Beach area on Wednesday, August 21st, I’d love to have you come to the Regency Lido Theatre and enjoy the show! Tickets are extremely reasonable, even to constantly-broke me. ;) All the screening details can be found here. And general info about the tour with tons of FAQs can be found here.
I hope to see you there!!
